“unbothered by trends… perfection itself for the unfussy gentleman”
Pitti Uomo 83 was held in January in Florence and once again offered a chance to take a look of all the things we'll be wearing and accessorizing ourselves with next fall and winter. I'll start my journey here at Editors' Notes by sharing with you some thoughts and pics of two collections I saw during the fair, first one being Drake's London which is available at Opumo.
Drake's fame is based on the high quality and refinement of its men’s accessories that includes a wide selection of ties, bow ties, scarves, pocket squares and a lot more. In recent years the company has been expanding to new product ares and is today offering a full range Drake's collection including sport coats, unlined blazers, shirts, cardigans, bags, outerwear and even shoes.
In terms of ties (that are all made in England), for every new season Drake's comes up with a collection that includes about 100 woven patterns and 100 printed designs, all in about 10 different color options. For next fall and winter there's new material choices such as classical grenadine mixed with a hint of mohair that makes it really versatile combining both formal and casual. There will also be printed wool ties and in terms of fabrics new mixtures between wool, silk and cashmere.
Drake's handkerchief selection differs from all other companies and, in my opinion, this really makes the difference. For example everyone should remember the unicorn-design from a couple of seasons back which perhaps includes the most beautiful pocket squares I've ever seen. This collection makes no exception; there will be a lot animals prints (such as pigs, dogs, birds and horses) in handkerchiefs made of high quality fabrics, woven and printed beautifully with absolute discretion.
For next season Drake's has also come up with an inspiring and very cosy looking collection of lambswool & cashmere scarves and beanies, all made in Scotland. Fair isle, checks, dots and a lot more.
