Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion

Disney has recently purchased George Lucas’ Lucasfilm for $4.05 Billion. Furthermore Disney schedules a release of Star Wars: Episode VII in the year of 2015. Surprised? So are we. So Disney not only now owns the Star Wars empire, which is actually one of the most popular franchises in the world, but also sets a seventh Star Wars movie in the works.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas in addition to the sale and passing on the position as head of Lucasfilm. The present co-chair of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy, will after the sale be the president of Lucasfilm.
