Ossa by Johannessen/Clarke

Ossa is a minimally and well designed chair from the Johannessen/Clarke design studio, built in a way that resembles a book opening and closing this chair has a playful quality to it that is matched by its simplicity. In the world of Industrial Design designing a chair proves to be a rite of passage, as such its increasing difficult to create your mark on the chair world – however I believe that J/C have done it.

In what would ordinarily be an ugly form of contraption they’ve managed to off-set by the pale tones of wood coupled with white steel locks and structures that support the chair. It’s interlacing parts had they been made from a metal would have looked industrial and cold but because of the use of wood rather creates a kind of toy-model feel to it.
